Back in town

First night back in the city of Lansing. It feels weird being here... but at the same time it's nice.
I had a nice time in Indiana visiting my boyfriends family for the 4th of July vacation. Then spent my weekend hanging out with Andrew. Also been working on my films and photography.

Although, a lot has happened in the last couple of days. Hopefully, I will be getting a new job soon! I feel like I nailed a couple of interviews and I should hear back from someone soon! My last day is coming up fast! I'm going to miss jimmy johns. :( I'm going to miss the people that worked there. Everyone there is so different from each other. ha I'm going to miss the nights and the crazy busy lunches. Oh well... time for change... and for the best. I do need to work more hours this last week, cause I need money!

I can't wait to start at CMU. I really wish I started this Fall, but it would have been too soon. I want to pay off my loan first. I saw one of my old professors today and he seemed really excited about me getting accepted to CMU. He told me I need to tell my other teacher and who is also head of the DMAC program at LCC. So I will e-mail him soon

The thing thats going to suck most when I move is, that my best friend might move back to town when I move out. I mean really? How shitty is that?! I will drive down and see her. No doubt about that!

I hope you guys liked my little random video I posted. I'm starting to get back into things! So keep an eye on this blog! Should be posting another video soon. It should be up sometime this weekend! It will be the Highland Festival in Alma, Michigan!  :)

Last month went by WAY too fast!

Life. It's been crazy. Starting to realize that you can only trust very few people. Everything in my life has been changing.. I would say for the better.

I got accepted to CMU and I will be starting in the Spring of 2013. I plan on getting a bachelor in Communication and Broadcasting. I will be working on my own videos in my own time, but this way I will be able to get a job and pay my bills.

I just had an interview at Mancino's here in Alma. Hopefully, I got the job. I'm pretty sure I did. I have another interview at Main Street Pizza in Ithaca tomorrow at 1pm.

Right now, Andrew and I are in the process of moving up north to St. Louis. Well... more like I am in the process. Andrew has been staying up here for some while now. It kinda sucks, cause now I really only see him on the weekends. However, it is nice to come up North and get away from the city and just relax.

I am also planning our wedding. We set a date on August 10, 2013. I am SO excited for our wedding. I'm planning a beach wedding in South Haven with close family and friends. Of course my close family is about 58 people... where Andrews is about 30. AND that's just family... that's not counting friends. So, so much for a small wedding... And who knows... it might not even be at the beach. ha I don't care though, because I'm going to marry the love of my life. That's all that matters. :)

Life... has been crazy lately... I don't want to go into detail... but lets just say I know who my real friends are.

life so far...

Wow... Haven't been on here in a while. I was busy there for a little bit but things are starting to slow down.

 I'm official done with school. I got my associates degree in Motion Picture Directing and I couldn't be more excited. My degree has still not been mailed to me yet... but I should be getting it soon! Although I still feel at my age I haven't done much. I feel like I need to start working harder then ever and get myself out there.

I applied at CMU and I have a meeting with an adviser this Wednesday. I've already sent my transcript up there... I just don't know what to do next. So I thought it would be best to sit down and talk to someone before I did anything else. Last time when I just winged in through college... I didn't do so good.. this time I plan... or I will do a lot better.
I plan on moving back up north. I was kinda nervous with this idea at first but the more I think about it the more I like the idea. I think it would be a good idea to  move back up there. I have family up there and soon I will be going to school. Plus Andrew has a good paying job up there. I do want to get out of this city... its scary and getting really dangerous. I fucking saw a shooting and had to go to court for it. Fuck it. I'm done with Lansing.

I'm planning on working with a couple people to do the Doritos commercial contest for the Super bowl next year. I just wrote to the two people who came to me with the idea telling them I was still interested. Hopefully I will hear from them soon.

I've been brainstorming ideas for a new story. I'm thinking a detective action short. I think it would be a lot easier and cheaper to  make then a SCI FI. It's based off the shooting I saw Saturday night in Downtown Lansing. How we chased down the gunner.. yeah it was exciting. ha I don't want to tell too much cause it will give it away.

I did it

I did it. I'm officially done with school! I turned in my last project which was my demo reel, resume, business card, and a link to my website. I am now ready to move from school, and continue to use these skills that I have learned, to get a well paying job. I plan on getting a part time job in a local news or tv studio. Since I'm moving up north, in August, I was thinking about getting a job at Cenertal Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. They have a public tv station there on campus.

I might be able to get a job at Buzz Tv in Jackson, Michigan. So I don't know if moving up North is a good idea.  My fiance's dad knows Rusty, who is the person getting this started. He talk to Rusty about me, told him I am a hard worker and I want to succeed in what I want to do. Which was very nice of him. I ended up writing Rusty a message on facebook. He replied that they didn't have any money, since they're just get started. However, once they do get things going he would be happy to have me on the team. I wrote him back saying I could volunteer during the summer if he needs any help. I feel like everyone likes free help. ha

I also plan on working part time or more on my own films. I just want a part time job to help pay bills, and also gain more experience and skills for my field. Also, so I can have money, but I really want to do my own thing. I plan on being in other film festivals in the area and spread myself out across the state, then make my way out. So start here in Lansing, then to Grand Rapids, Detroit, Travers City, then Chicago, Toledo, ect. I need to start networking a lot more and getting my name out there.

I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. Life is about to change, I know I am ready.

Fortnight

Well last weekend was the Lansing Film Festival. My team and I made it to the top 15 for Fortnight but we didn't place anything else. I don't care. I still had a movie in the film fest and it was on the big screen. I'm still pretty proud of myself. ALSO my movie was the 1st to get a crowd reaction. I was happy. :) I will be posting the short within the next hour. 

Now I'm working on my website and my demo reel for school. My last day is this Monday! I'm so close to being done! I am so excited! I just have so much to do! @_@

After I am done with my demo reel I am going to work on a couple videos for my friend, Ian Mulvaney. He does stand up comedy at connections here in Lansing. He was the one in the video I posted a while back.  I am going to make shorter videos with only a couple jokes here and there. This way there only a couple minutes long.

I am also working on a script for my webisode. It's going alright. I think I am going to talk to my little sister about helping me write it. She told me she wants to start doing my writing and get her life back... so I'm going to talk to her about it this week. I might even change the whole idea for my webisode... I don't know.

 I'm debating weather or not to do the East Lansing film fest... i should... but i don't know what to do... and I already have a lot going on... we'll see...

So exhausted

Man, making movies really take a lot of energy out of you, but its been worth it! I've been loving ever moment this last week. However, time is going fast and Friday is going to be here soon! I am getting more nervous by the second... every time I am not working on the film, I get scared, like I'm running out of time. I don't want to, I want to finish this and still compete! I wish I had a time machine!

I was editing almost all day and I am about 1/2 way through the video editing, but I still need to match the audio. I've be working on it from 5pm to about now. I didn't work on it last night at all... so I hope that's making good time. @_@  Matching the audio is going to take some time because of the tracks aren't labeled. Yes, they were in order that I filmed, but now the video clips are in that order anymore since I titled them. I'm sure it will be easy, I just need to remain calm.

This last weekend was the longest weekend, I've had in a while. I am so exhausted. Erin and I filmed this last weekend on the short we are making for the contest. The first night didn't go very smoothly. We kept forgetting to shoot scenes and we were jumping all over. Erin and I didn't plan out what to shoot when. It was a mess. So it took longer then it should have. I wanted to be done by 10pm... but we fell an hour and a half behind.

However, Erin and I stayed up late on Friday night and planed out everything we were going to do on Saturday. It worked and made the day go by a lot better. Everyone that was helping me was patient with me, and worked well with me, even when thins got a little heated.

Overall, I feel like everything went well... I mean this is my first movie. I'm really excited to start editing it and getting it finished up to see the final thing. I'm also looking forward to the film fest in April. It's going to be a great time.

After I am done with this short I am going to work on my demo reel for school. I can't believe I finish school this month. I am so excited. I need to keep working on videos, just keep shooting this and edit them. That way I can improve my skills. Also so I can stay in the local film group here in Lansing, MI.

I need to find a real job soon... something to fit my degree... there are going to be a lot of changes in my life soon... this will be interesting, I'm excited to see whats going to happen.

Busy day tomorrow... then why am I not sleeping...

Casting Call is tomorrow afternoon, and I can't wait to see how many people are going to come. I hope it's not too many, so that way we can get through them. However, I hope it's a good number so we can cast our film. =X

The script is being edited as we speak, it should be ready by tomorrow night. That way I can e-mail the talent letting them know they made it with a copy of the script. So that they can read over it over the next couple days before we record.We start shooting on Friday at 3:30pm and I'm nervous about it cause we won't have any rehearsal time. Which means I will have to tell everyone, what they are doing and when on Friday... challenge accepted (thank god I have Erin).

I'm feeling pretty confident in our project, but I don't know if it's a good thing or bad. I wish there was a way to see the films from last year, so I know what I am up against. Know thy enemies! ...  Right?

Either way I am having so much fun. I've loved every second.

I've also been working on my demo DVD for my portfolio class. It's looking alright. I'll share it when I'm done, but that won't be until after the fortnight film contest. Also have been working on my website, check it out: www.rudelleconklin.com

Great Progress

Have you ever felt like there was something behind you, watching you, like there's something behind the corner of your eye? When you look, there's nothing there... or is there?

Rec-Les is making great progress, as the contest continues! We have an awesome script, we've planned out casting call and when we are shooting this weekend. We are making great timing! I am loving every moment of this contest, it's so much fun!! Erin and I put up fliers for our casting call on Tuesday March 27th! If you want to come and try out; go here.

I'm alive

I swear I am a live, just been REALLY busy. Been working a lot of hours at my shitty job, trying to finish up school, and get ready for the film fest here in town! So much to do, so little time! I just wanted you guys to know that I am still here and I will be posting new stuff soon!

Hey, long time no see...

I've been really busy trying to get a video editor to work and be able to export my video as HD. There's no point doing the video in low quality because I wanted this camera so I could shoot in HD. So I am working on my friends video for his comedy show. It's looking alright, I just wish I could have gotten the show from different angles. If he likes this video then I am going to ask him if I can come back and shoot him again. So I could add on to what I have and make it look better. I just hope my computer doesn't crash exporting this video. It kept getting blue screen when we did this, then we realized my new mother board was over clocked. We fixed it and tried it again, but the computer crashed... I am trying the second time, so hopefully it works. I'll post it when I'm done.



Half way through this semester! Can't wait to be done! Hopefully I can find a job in my field sometime soon, I really want to get out of Jimmy John's and fast!

By the way... how often am I suppose to update my blog? Everyday? Once a week? Or just whenever...

Recycle Jar Plant Hangers

So came across a couple extra jars a while ago and I didn't want to throw them out. I felt like I could still use them. I then came across this idea on the internet, to make plant hangers out of them. So I did! Good News Everyone!

I will be updating my computer over this weekend! Which means I will be able to finally edit my clips and post them online! Also I can edit my old projects to make them look better, which will be awesome. I am SO excited! The first thing I am going to do is start working on those projects. :D The memory has been shipped and I will be getting the rest of the stuff on Friday! Hopefully I will get my loan in time. =X

Yes, I am spending my loan on these upgrades... but its something I need, so I can get myself to the next step.

I only have nine more weeks of school left. That's it.  I can't believe how fast this semester is going. However, I am beginning to think that I work too much at JJ's. I need to work harder on my projects and not get lazy after work. I won't get stuck in the same cycle everyday. I'm not going to see what I worked so hard for, go down the drain. I will have my associates for Motion Picture Directing and I won't waste my life away to be nothing.
I can't wait till I have that diploma in my hand in July.... It's funny how a piece of paper can mean so much to a person.

I ran Super Bowl 5K last Sunday. Didn't beat my personal best, but I didn't gain any real time either... just a couple seconds around my last time at the Dino Dash. :) I was pretty happy since I haven't been running that much lately. I am going running tonight though! l

Also I am going to post pictures in a little bit this craft idea I found! It super cute and good for the planet!! I think you guys will like it. XD

This last week

Wow, this week went by SO fast! I was really busy working on my portfolio when I got a chance. I had so much to work on with it and I still do. However, this is my only class and my last semester, so I'll be fine. :D

I actually started to write my script for my webisode. I am now done with brainstorming and getting background of the characters. I figure I could just write it and figure out how the characters to be as the story is unfolding. After I am done writing it I am going to go to LCC and talked to some theater kids I know and see if they are interested in being in it. Hopefully the story of my script will sound interesting with them and some will want to join. Sure it would be fun if my friends were in it... it's just I need decent actors in this.

Adobe is till not working! So I am going to try to new program called Cyberlink Power Director. I did some research and I think this one sounded pretty good, so I thought, why not. I'll let you guys know how it goes. That way I will have some new work to show you guys! XD

Yesterday, Tuesday, I delivered for work for the first time in months. I miss it, a lot. I made like 30 bucks which was awesome. However I did get a parking ticket on my 1rd delivery!  I thought I was only going to be five minutes, but the women took longer to get down stairs and meet me then I thought. I knew I should have put a dime in. BUT no... I had to play mister cool guy and not put money in. :( The parking women was on the next car when I came out too. I was so upset, 5 bucks out of my tip money. I mean come on, you guys know I work for JJ's I'm going to be freaky fast. Grr Oh well... what are you going to do....

getting my dipolma in July and screw the homeless

Last night I got an e-mail from Lansing Community College stating: "Congratulations!  Your Application for an Associate Degree has been approved for Spring semester.  You may view your degree status by accessing your academic transcript online via LCC’s Banner Student System.  Your diploma will be mailed in July.  Name and address changes must be completed prior to the end of Spring semester.". 


I could not be any happier right now! I am so happy to be almost done! I just have to pass my portfolio class and I will be done. Which is an easy class, I just have to show up and do my work. Basically all I have to do is work on my portfolio, online portfolio, mock interview, and get ready for the real world. @_@ I don't think I will have any problems, I got this in a bag.

Still haven't figured out what is going on with adobe... but then again I haven't had time to work on it. Been working a lot of hours at JJ's and my homework for my portfolio class. I'll mess with it this weekend...

I went to kick boxing last night with my room mate Lizzy. I am so sore today. My back is killing me! I'm thinking about going to a chiropractor to get it looked at, because I feel like my back is really messed up. I can't lay flat on the ground. My lower back just curves up, I can fight both my arms under my back. =/ I should look up some stretches or something for it. I need to fix this soon, or its going to cause me lots of problems in the future. 

So today I deiced to walk home instead of taking the bus from work. It wasn't too cold and it sounded fun. Plus its only like a 25-30 min walk, so it's not that bad. I was walking by the Nuthouse when I saw this women asking for changed from a man. I thought to myself, 'Shit, I better book it or she's going to ask me'. So I started to walk faster and sure enough I heard behind me, "Mam, excuse me". I ignored her and kept walking. Then I heard it again, 'God dang it' I thought to myself as I turned around. She then introduced herself and told me she was homeless cause her boyfriend left her for another women, blah, blah, blah. I never saw her before so I believed her and gave her my day old I just bought at JJ's (this was going to be my lunch). I also gave her 60 cents, that was my bus fare, just cause it was in my hand. She then had the nerve to ask me about the bread, "Does this have meat on it?". I was so upset... I mean really, really?! I just gave you my meal for the day and now your asking for more... wtf?! Then I told her, "Hey, it's better then nothing and that's more then what I have at home" and walked away. That is the last time I do something nice for a homeless person...


Thats all I can think about to say right now...

Being a grown up.. sucks!

I can't stand adobe premiere right now!! I've been trying to figure it out the last couple of days and its so annoying! For some reason all my video clips in the source window move very slowly. I don't know how many times I've changed the settings. Ahh! I just want it to work so I can make more videos and post them on here. I made this blog to push my career, but it's not helping when the software I'm working with, wont' work. I was going to try to work on it when I got home from work tonight but I was a half an hour longer at work then I thought it would be.  We were so busy tonight and we didn't get out until 11pm. It sucked. So I'm just going to relax...

The last couple of days I've been trying to be more productive at home. I feel like all I do is sit on my computer and surf the web, and that gets boring pretty fast. =X So I worked on my memory wall for a little bit last night. Then messed with adobe for hours!!! Still haven't gotten anywhere. I volunteered for the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference happening here in Lansing. I get to be a Broadcast Excellence Award Program Assistant. This job involves setting up for the BEA awards program, assisting attendees to available seats, and then assisting in the distribution of the awards during the program. I'm pretty excited for that. :D I also worked on my resume today. Adding new things to it and making it look a little more fancy. It's part of my homework for my portfolio class. Yay! Go Rudi!

I can't wait to be done with school, but I am also really scared because I don't know if I'll find a job. Hopefully I will so I can pay back my loan.  Thank god I only took out one. However my main focus are my stories that I want to share with you guys.... But I do need something to pay my bills... =/ Being a grown up.. sucks!

weekend...

        Okay.. last Friday what happened to the snow storm?! I was so excited for it, then it just didn't happen..    Lame.
        Although, it was a great night to watch "Lord of the Rings Return of the King". That film is so amazing. These movies make me realize how much I want to become a director. To be able to share a story and make people feel for the characters, for the story. And what Peter Jackson did with "Lord of the Rings" was the best creation in cinema during this time period.
   That movie me made me re think my life, again. I need to start working more on my projects. So I can tell my story. So you guys can hear what I have to say...let see how long that last. :P

        Saturday I played Battlefield 3 on my room mate Lizzy PS3. The graphics are pretty good and I like the story line so far. I have not played on a counsel in a long time, and its really weird for me to use a controller. The set up for the attack buttons, just don't work for me. I always throw a grenade when I want to run. Or I will hit R2 to shoot but it pulls out my knife. AND whenever I go to crouch, I lay flat on my stomach. I mean come on!! Grrr    
        So I've been playing on the campaign to get use the to keys before I play online... I'm going to try to change the keys the next time I play.
     
       Today, Sunday, I went car shopping with Andrew all day. It was so boring! I now know how it feels when I make him go shopping with me. Poor guy. We didn't find anything either. He wants an manual transmission but all the cars were auto.
        Mallory my sister took me out to a movie tonight! We went and saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D. It was so awesome! I loved every minute of it. It brought back so many good memories and I still laughed and cried. It was great. I have to go see TIN TIN!! I've been wanting to see it... Maybe I'll go on Tuesday...
     Mal then hung out here for a bit, we did out nails and talked. It was nice to get caught up. I miss her a lot. I'm going to hang out her next weekend. I'm excited! XD

Well I'm off to bed.. but I'm going to read "The Hobbit" before I do...

this week...

So far this week has been insane. I signed up for this magazine deal/ scam last week. They told me I couldn't cancel it till after three days. When I got the paper in the mail with the information I realized it was 66 bucks a month! I can't afford that! I can barley afford rent right now. POOR college student here people! So I called them Friday night, but they were closed. I then called them on Tuesday and they told me I had up to 3 days to cancel it!! I was pass the days to cancel it!! WTF?! I told them I can't afford it and I can't pay it. So they gave me the student deal which is 25 bucks... I still can't afford that. I told them, and they told me they can't cancel it!! HOW can you not!? Honestly?!

SO I called my bank today, told them what was going on, and I'm now getting a new card. Thank god I have such an understanding bank. Hopefully, I wont have any bill collectors call me... if so I will let them know I told them I couldn't and wouldn't pay for it. So... there fault... GRR

It also doesn't help that everyone has been yelling to me about it. Falling for a scam like that... well I didn't know. GOD! I thought it was a good deal.

On the side note...
I've been looking for a new job, something that pays more and is in my major. I also updated my vimeo, youtube, and LinkedIn pages so maybe something will happen. Just sucks cause no one is hiring right now. So I'm just going to work on my Sci Fi webisode. Everyone that I have talked about it to says they really like the idea. It will be easy and cheap to film, I just have to get the script done. I need to get something out there on youtube to start getting my name out there.

New to all this...

Okay... here I am writing a blog... I feel like everyone does this now a day. However it seems like I am now part of everyone. Apparently I had to start a blog.. why? Not sure yet..

However I think the reason why people assume I had to start one is because, I have a lot of ideas in my head.  I guess I need a place to write them... to share them...
